There are 2.2 million people work in Britain's construction industry, making it the country's biggest industry. It is also one of the most dangerous, where improvements in health and safety are still urgently needed. In the last 25 years, over 2,800 people have died from injuries they received as a result of construction work. Many more have been injured or made ill.

The new, simplified CDM Regulations, implemented on 6 April 2007, revise and bring together the existing CDM 1994 and the Construction (Health Safety and Welfare) (CHSW) Regulations 1996 into a single regulatory package. They will be supported by an Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) and industry-approved guidance. The new regulations for Northern Ireland came out in July 2007.

Some of the options we can help you with include:

  • Assessing and reviewing your operations
  • Developing management procedures and systems that will assist with compliance in a practical and effective way
  • Reviewing and developing your health & safety management system against recognised standards
  • Providing both 'generic' and site specific risk assessments that help you devise safe systems of work for development of safety method statements
  • Practical common sense health and safety training and update briefings to all levels of your organisation from boardroom to construction site
