Setting the Agenda

Over the last decade we have been instrumental in developing occupational health, safety and environmental strategy. In 2002 we authored the proposal and scoping/specification for a feasibility study into the establishment of a comprehensive occupational health scheme in the construction industry.

Then in 2004 we were selected as the provider of Constructing Better Health, the pilot programme that offered solutions on occupational health management to the industry. This provided the sound evidence required to enable it to be developed into a national scheme.

More recently, our chairman Lawrence Waterman has taken up the post of Head of Health and Safety at the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA). Lawrence was appointed after completing his duties as president of IOSH. In this role he heads up the health and safety team responsible for ensuring the well-being of the thousands of people who will work on building the infrastructure necessary to deliver the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
